GOHSENOL™

Overview

GOHSENOL™ is a registered trademark of Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation.

With its excellent water solubility, bonding strength, film forming properties, and chemical stability, GOHSENOL™ (Polyvinyl Alcohol, PVOH, and PVA) has achieved a great reputation in both global and domestic markets as an industrial material and treatment agent for adhesives, paper, emulsifiers, suspensions, fabrics, and films.

Since its founding in 1927, Mitsubishi Chemical has developed a wide variety of specialty grades through continuous research and engineering, which have attracted attention as materials that support future technology in various fields and established their position as indispensable materials. These grades are manufactured under stringent control. The quality management system employed conforms to the ISO 9001 standard in order to cope with customer requests.

GOHSENOL™ EG is high quality Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVOH) obtained after eliminating impurities through purification process, conforming to the standard of cosmetic ingredients (Japanese Standards of Quasi-drug Ingredients).

GOHSENOL™'s PVOH and PVA products offer excellent water solubility, adhesive strength, film-forming properties, and chemical stability, making them suitable as industrial raw materials and processing agents for a wide range of applications, including adhesives, papermaking, emulsifiers, suspensions, textiles, and film production.

The Features of GOHSENOL™.

Water Solubility:Lower viscosity grades usually dissolve more easily. Solubility also substantially varies depending on the degree of saponification.

Solvent Resistance:The product does not dissolve in most organic solvents, animal or vegetable oils, or greases.

Surface Activity:An aqueous solution of partially saponified PVOH has a lower surface tension than fully saponified PVOH.

Bonding Strength:Aqueous solutions of GOHSENOL™ exhibit extremely high bonding strength with materials that have porous and hydrophilic surfaces, such as fabric, paper, and wood.

Film Forming Properties:Films made of GOHSENOL™ boast excellent features including transparency, gas barrier performance, anti-fog properties, solvent resistance, antistatic properties, and moisture permeability.

Chemical Reactivity:GOHSENOL™ products are stable polymer compounds and usually do not putrefy, decompose, or polymerize on their own. In the presence of specific catalysts, it exhibits various chemical reactions.

Safety and Biodegradability:GOHSENOL™ is an eco-friendly biodegradable resin. The product has been registered on the “GreenPla” positive list by the Japan BioPlastics Association.

Gas Barrier Performance:GOHSENOL™ exhibits extremely high impermeability to various gases at low humidity, including oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, and helium.
