PVA is produced with calcium carbide as raw material. After calcium carbide reacts with water to form acetylene, acetylene synthesizes with acetic acid to form vinyl acetate, then methanol is used as the solvent to polymerize, Through alcoholysis, poly-vinyl acetate changes to PVA. After being crushed and dried, it becomes finished product. |
General Properties
Polyvinyl alcohol film: Density 1.26-1.29 g/cm³, refractive index 1.52, emits bluish-white light upon exposure to ultraviolet light. It is highly hygroscopic and dissolves in water. The fiber moisture content can reach 30%-50%, and can even reach 4.5% at 65% RH and 25°C. It is permeable to water vapor but poorly permeable to alcohol vapor. It is impermeable to organic solvent vapor, inert gases, and hydrogen.
