KURARAY POVAL 3-86SD (SD-1000)
KURARAY POVAL™ 3-86 SD is a water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) manufactured by Kuraray Corporation.
It contains carboxylic acid functional groups and is derived from the alcoholysis of polyvinyl acetate. KURARAY POVAL™ 3-86 SD is recommended for use as an emulsion polymerization aid in pigment binders for paper applications and is also suitable for adhesives. This specialty grade product has a shelf life of 12 months from the date of shipment.
Key performance parameters: The viscosity of this product's 4% solution is in the range of 2.4 - 3.4 mPa·s, which is classified as a low viscosity type; the degree of alcoholysis ranges from 83.0 to 88.0 mol%, and it is made by the alcoholysis process of polyvinyl acetate. This combination of parameters gives it both good water solubility and compatibility with various formulation systems.
